Nick Gregory

I have been involved in cheerleading for 43 years. I am the former coach of the Harrison High School Varsity Cheerleaders where, during my 38-year tenure, my teams captured 16 National Titles and one World Championship.  As the co-owner/director of American Cheerleading Techniques (A.C.T), we held cheerleading camps throughout the state of New Jersey and established the first Garden State “State” Cheerleading Championship.  I was the director of the Harrison “Blue Tide” Invitational Cheerleading Competition for over 30 years.  Both UPA and USCA have awarded me Coach of the Year honors along with naming me to the UPA Hall of Fame. I am very proud to have been listed in the “Who’s Who of Coaching” in American Cheerleader Magazine since its conception.  In 2007, the New Jersey Cheerleading and Dance Coaches Association (NJCDCA) presented me with their Coaches Recognition Award, which is given out annually to a deserving coach for their dedication to the sport of cheerleading. I have recently completed my 39th year judging for the Metropolitan Cheerleading Judges Association where I have acted as the President, Treasurer and Training Coordinator, responsible for training new judges.  Due to my knowledge and expertise of cheerleading, I have been sought after and have judged for 10 National companies, where I continue to act in the capacity as head judge for many of them.  In addition, I was a member of the prestigious 2009 Worlds Judging Panel. Lisa and I have worked together in many of my mentioned endeavors and we bring to ImpACT a wealth of knowledge and understanding of all aspects of cheerleading, which should prove to make the ImpACT Cheer & Dance Challenge a rewarding and extremely organized event to attend not only for the competitors, but for their fans as well!

Nick and I have been crossing paths in cheerleading for over 35 years, so it was no surprise when we sat down and decided to start ImpACT (for all of you ACT campers and staff who wore the green & gold, the name ImpACT should resonate with you!).  Besides being a mascot and cheerleader in my grammar school days, I was always drawn to the choreography and creativity of cheerleading.  I started out as a staff member for ACT and moved up the ranks to senior staff and head choreographer with some very talented contemporaries to work with – it was a great summer job and a perfect way for me to have that creative outlet.  I signed on as Nick’s assistant at Harrison High School in 1989 and we enjoyed a very successful run with the program until 2002.  That’s when I began coaching All-Stars.  I also became a member of the Metropolitan Cheerleading Judges Association in 1992, holding the positions of President and Training Coordinator throughout the course of my tenure there. Most recently, I was a member of the MCJA Recruiting Committee that seeks out potential judging candidates to join the organization.  I have been selected to judge Pop Warner Nationals in Orlando, FL for two years and continue to judge in the tristate area.  I’m looking forward to branching out and judging nationally once my children are both in college.  With a long history together and a great friendship, I know that we can make ImpACT Cheer & Dance Challenge events a great experience for all who attend – both athlete and spectator!  I look forward to this new adventure in cheerleading, especially with my partner in cheering crime, Nick!
